About Us

Our Philosophy

When one member of a community is incarcerated, the entire community is affected.  To lift everyone, we work to improve the lives of individuals, families, and communities impacted by incarceration.

Our Mission

To support, educate, and advocate for individuals, families and communities impacted by incarceration.

Centerforce Statement

Centerforce provides reentry services for formerly incarcerated individuals and their families in the East Bay.  We provide evidence‐based programs exemplifying best practices.  Founded in 1977 to provide shelter to loved ones visiting prisoners at San Quentin, we now provide a broad range of services during incarceration, reentry, and after release.

We work with correctional entities, probation departments, other non‐profits, and research institutions to design, implement, and evaluate programs to support communities impacted by incarceration.

Our programs include

  • Transitional Case Management
  • Gender Responsive Reentry
  • Prisoner Peer Health Education Training
  • McCullum Centerforce Youth Court
  • Juvenile Restorative Justice Program

Other Services

  • Culture of Corrections Training for Service Providers
  • Family Reunification Support
